Terms of Use

The terms governing use of the VUNO application.

These Terms of Use govern use of the VUNO application. By using the application, you acknowledge that VUNO is a tool supporting navigation and route organisation, not a substitute for personal judgement, experience, preparation or official safety services.

The application is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 or over.

Using the application

VUNO provides features including:

• maps and navigation,
• route creation using Manual, Smart and Straight modes,
• GPX import and export,
• trip and track recording which, after you explicitly tap REC, may continue with the screen locked or in the background until you tap STOP,
• temporary caching of map areas already displayed,
• Group and Event modes,
• Community display of nearby riders,
• PULSE posts and temporary VUNO Alerts near routes,
• ASSIST notifications to participants where available,
• optional Fall Guard with SMS to up to two verified contacts,
• wrong-way and steep-slope warnings,
• points of interest such as fuel and food locations.

Features may depend on GPS, internet access, Bluetooth, available maps, third-party providers and device permissions.

An active REC indication does not guarantee uninterrupted recording. Disabling GPS, withdrawing permission, battery saving or depletion, signal loss, force termination, or operating-system restrictions may cause gaps or interruption. VUNO does not invent a straight connection across a detected large GPS gap, but you must check a saved track before using or publishing it.

Rider responsibility

The rider remains fully responsible for:

• choosing and assessing a route,
• speed and riding behaviour,
• compliance with traffic rules, local law and access restrictions,
• using suitable equipment,
• checking weather, terrain, fuel and natural hazards,
• deciding whether a route is safe and lawful.

Do not use the application in a way that distracts you while riding. Stop in a safe place before operating the screen.

Accuracy of maps and data

Maps, routes, routing, elevation data, gradients, POIs and cached map data may contain errors, omissions or delayed updates. VUNO does not guarantee that a road is open, a route is lawful or accessible, elevations and gradients are exact, a POI exists or is operating, or the cache contains every tile needed without a connection. Always observe the real environment and road signs.

PULSE and VUNO Alerts

Creating or managing a public PULSE profile or post requires a VUNO Account with a verified email address. Sign-in uses a one-time code. You are responsible for protecting access to your email, not sharing sign-in codes and notifying us if you suspect unauthorised access. An account is for the person controlling its email address. VUNO may restrict an account or content for abuse, impersonation or violation of these terms.

You may permanently delete your VUNO Account in the application. Deletion removes the PULSE profile, posts and associated personal data and cannot be undone. If the account owns an active Group or Event, it is closed so it is not left without a responsible administrator.

PULSE posts and VUNO Alerts are user content. Only a point explicitly marked by its creator as a “Temporary hazard” is additionally shared, together with its precise location, as a VUNO Alert to users whose route passes nearby. POIs, photos and ordinary notes do not automatically become shared Alerts.

VERIFIED RIDE means only that the application found a trip stored on that device with the required technical match to the public track. It is not identity verification, independent field inspection, certification of accuracy or a guarantee that conditions remain unchanged. A user performing a PULSE CHECK is responsible for providing recent and truthful information and must not manipulate GPS or the feature. The number and list of public routes they have verified may appear on their public PULSE profile; this does not make them a certified inspector or constitute a VUNO route recommendation.

VUNO Signals are structured user information about a specific route point and are created only after a valid PULSE CHECK. They may be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete or subjective. Community confirmation does not turn them into an official notice, passability certification or safety guarantee. Access restrictions, signs and authority instructions always prevail.

TRACK lets users prioritise posts from selected public profiles. Followers appear as CREW and profiles followed by the user as TRACKED. TRACK is not location tracking, does not guarantee every post will be shown and is not VUNO approval of the content. Blocking or deleting an account removes the TRACK relationship.

PULSE Activity provides in-app notifications for TRACK, likes, PULSE Checks and VUNO Signals. Notifications are informational and may be grouped or delayed. Delivery of every community action is not guaranteed. Blocking removes related notifications between those users.

Creators must report genuine, recent conditions with a clear title and without third-party personal data, defamatory content or misleading information. Other users may confirm that a point still exists or has cleared. False or coordinated manipulation of reports and confirmations is prohibited.

VUNO Alerts are temporary, may be automatically or community-withdrawn and are not official, verified or guaranteed-complete information. The absence of an Alert does not mean a road is safe; its presence does not prove a hazard remains. You remain responsible for checking the terrain, signs and official announcements and for stopping safely before using the application.

Group, Event, ASSIST and Fall Guard

Group mode, Event mode and ASSIST support rider coordination. Fall Guard may additionally create a pending two-minute server incident and, if it is not cancelled, attempt to send an SMS with a temporary location link to up to two contacts who have verified their consent. None of these features is a rescue service, medical service, operations centre or official emergency system.

Fall detection relies on sensors, GPS, movement and immobility and may miss a real fall or create a false alarm. SMS sending and delivery depend on the device, internet, mobile coverage and third-party providers. VUNO does not guarantee detection, sending, delivery, reading or recipient response.

Before first configuring Fall Guard, the rider must separately read and accept its specific limitations. The terms version, acceptance time, app version and language are recorded. By activation, the rider specifically confirms that they will not rely on Fall Guard as their only safety measure; will personally tell others about their planned route and maintain an appropriate emergency plan; will check the device, battery, permissions, GPS, internet and contacts before every ride; understands that “accepted for sending” is not proven delivery, reading or mobilisation of help; and understands that VUNO does not live-monitor the incident, assess medical condition or conduct rescue operations.

Availability does not create a duty of continuous monitoring by VUNO or a promise that a third party will locate or assist the rider. An “active”, “verified contact” or “accepted for sending” status describes only the last known technical state and does not certify later operation of sensors, operating system, GPS, network, SMS provider or device. The feature is disabled by default and a new version of the limitations may require renewed explicit acceptance.

The rider must create and privately share an invitation only with people they know and trust and must not enter another person’s number. Each contact enters their own number, provides separate consent and completes SMS verification. Harassment, unsolicited link sharing, tests without consent and unlawful use are prohibited. Contact, verification, incident and SMS usage limits apply to control abuse and cost, with part of the budget reserved for genuine alerts. If a limit is reached, sending may fail and the application will display the actual known state.

In a real emergency, contact the local emergency services immediately.

Prohibited conduct includes false or abusive use of ASSIST or Fall Guard; adding a contact without a lawful reason; harassment; false, abusive or misleading VUNO Alert publication or verification; manipulation of GPS, PULSE CHECK, VUNO Signal or community confirmation; deceptive use of false information; and entering an Event or Group without authorisation.

Event organisers

Event organisers are responsible for the accuracy of event information, the route and its suitability, participant information, any permits, approvals or insurance obligations, and management of organiser, sweeper and rider codes. VUNO supplies a technology tool, not event organisation or supervision.

Premium features and payments

At initial public launch, all features, including Fall Guard, are provided free of charge and the application makes no charge. If premium plans or subscriptions are enabled later, Fall Guard will be a Premium feature. Clear information will be provided before purchase and payments will be handled only through Apple App Store or Google Play.

VUNO may change available features, prices or plans in the future in accordance with store rules and applicable law.

User content

Routes, GPX files, trips, names, nicknames and notes you enter remain your responsibility. You must not enter or share content that violates third-party rights, law or another person’s privacy.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VUNO is not liable for indirect or consequential loss or for failures caused by loss of signal, GPS, internet, telecommunications networks, operating-system permissions, battery depletion, unsuitable device mounting, an incompatible or outdated version, device tampering, third-party providers, incorrect user data or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights where prohibited by mandatory law, particularly in cases of fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury legally attributable to the provider’s act or omission, personal-data protection or defective-product liability. If a restriction is invalid, the remaining terms continue to apply to the fullest permitted extent.

These warnings are not intended to avoid VUNO’s safety obligations. They accurately describe what features dependent on sensors, networks and human response can and cannot do.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Greek law, without depriving a consumer of mandatory protection under the law of their country of habitual residence. Before legal action, you may contact info@vunoapp.com so the issue can be investigated and resolved, without limiting legal time limits or rights of redress.

Service changes or interruption

We may modify, restrict or discontinue features for technical, legal, commercial or safety reasons. We will seek to avoid sudden changes affecting core use but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.
